Veniamin Smekhov «Nostalgia for the Present» in Astana
In the programme Nostalgia for the Real, Veniamin Smekhov shared his favourite poems with the audience. He bridges the gap between the 1920s (which he heard about from his contemporaries Nikolai Erdman and Lily Brik), the 1960s (when Vladimir Vysotsky, Alla Demidova, Leonid Filatov, Valery Zolotukhin played at the Taganka Theatre, and Yuri Lyubimov was at the helm), «The Three Musketeers», a favourite film of many generations, and the present day.
«Going backwards» is the motto of Veniamin Smekhov. He is one of those who do not let the bond of time disintegrate. He realises the connection with the past, without which there is no future. Veniamin Smekhov was acquainted with Mayakovsky's muse Lilya Brik and with the brilliant author of the play «Suicide» Nikolai Erdman, met with Shostakovich, was friends with Pyotr Fomenko, was one of the founders of the Taganka Theatre, shared a dressing room and played on the same stage with Vladimir Vysotsky, starred with Smoktunovsky, played Athos in The Three Musketeers, joined Slava Polunin's Academy of Fools, and today plays with wonderful young actors in the Theatre of Nations' play The Last Summer and in Black & Simpson at the Praktika Theatre. Let's go «Back to Front.»
After the performance there will be an opportunity to buy the author's book by Veniamin Smekhov and get the long-awaited autograph of the great artist!
