From 5 to 20 September 2025, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan is holding an exhibition entitled «Kobzar in the Kazakh Steppe: Intersection of History and Fate».

The exhibition is dedicated to the life and work of the exceptional Ukrainian poet, writer, artist and public figure, Taras Shevchenko.

The exhibition showcases Shevchenko's creative journey in Kazakhstan and presents the ethnographic heritage of the Ukrainian people. He was exiled to military service in Kazakhstan due to his political views, where he lived from 1847 to 1857. During this time, he immersed himself in the nature and way of life of the Kazakh people, developing a deep respect for their hospitality and resilience, a sentiment that would be reflected in his literary and artistic works.

The exhibition aims to reveal new facets of the historical and cultural interconnectedness between the two peoples, and to promote the creative legacy of Taras Shevchenko associated with the Kazakh steppe. The project aims to strengthen spiritual unity and advance shared cultural values.

A total of 115 exhibits have been provided by the Tupkaragan branch of the Mangystau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore, named after A. Kekilbayuly..
