Exhibition «Serbian Woman Through the Ages»
The Almaty Museum has opened the exhibition «Serbian Woman Through the Ages» from the Belgrade City Museum. This unprecedented showcase, celebrating the strength and social role of women throughout millennia, promises to become a landmark event in Kazakhstan’s cultural life.
The exhibition spans nearly 7,500 years of Belgrade and Serbian history, offering visitors a unique perspective on how women’s status and influence have evolved, from prehistoric times to the modern day, through the lens of Serbia’s distinctive history and culture.
The display features a rich collection of artefacts: archaeological finds, ethnographic objects, items of applied art and design, as well as portraits of outstanding Serbian women of the 19th century. Guests will also learn about the lives and achievements of Serbian artists, scientists, heroines, athletes, and other remarkable women who have left a lasting mark on the nation’s history.
The exhibition is held as part of an international inter-museum collaboration. Its opening continues the cultural exchange initiative launched in December 2024, when a collection from the Almaty Museum of History was successfully presented at the Princess Ljubica’s Residence, part of the Belgrade City Museum in Serbia.
The exhibition will run until 15 November 2025.
