From 15 August to 8 September 2025, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host the exhibition 'Here, the streets preserve his footsteps...', dedicated to the life and work of the great Russian literary classic, philosopher and publicist, Fyodor Dostoevsky.

The exhibition covers the period during which the writer stayed in the city of Semey (1854–1859).

It aims to present artefacts from the museum reflecting the atmosphere of the 19th century, and to demonstrate how the memory of Fyodor M. Dostoevsky and his legacy are preserved in the modern city.

Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the ambience of a provincial town in the second half of the nineteenth century, and learn about the writer’s challenging military service before he retired on health grounds.

The exhibition has been prepared in collaboration with the Fyodor M. Dostoevsky Literary and Memorial Museum in Semey.
