«To Live… To Live… To Live…»
The play «To Live… To Live… To Live…» by Andrey Glushkov is based on several stories by Vasily Shukshin. The unifying thread running through them is voiced by the protagonist of the novella «Alyosha the Unescorted», who reflects on a profound question: «So when is the most important time in life? Perhaps the point is simply this TO LIVE?»
The production, following Shukshin’s spirit, raises complex, deeply philosophical questions, yet does so in a light, playful manner.
The audience, together with the play’s characters, will once again ponder the meaning of life and their own purpose. For Shukshin was not only a master of prose but also a great humanist.
Among the stories that inspired the performance are: «A Wife Saw Her Husband Off to Paris», «The Microscope», «Little Boots», and «Cosmos, the Nervous System, and a Slice of Lard».
