Zhusan

A psychological drama by award-winning playwright Marlen Gilymkhan. The play reveals the deep emotional and psychological trauma experienced by people who were misled into following pseudo-religious extremists posing as representatives of Islam. Through the story of a young man trapped in an environment of manipulation, threats, and intense psychological pressure, the performance openly speaks about inner pain, fear, and spiritual collapse. It portrays the tragic consequences of being drawn into a distorted ideology presented as a false «salvation». «Zhusan» reflects the fate of many individuals who were repatriated as part of the humanitarian operation «Zhusan», carried out by Presidential Decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which brought back citizens from the armed conflict zone in Syria.
