Opening of the Concert Season
On 11 September 2025 at 19:00, the Chamber Hall of the Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev State Academic Philharmonic of Astana will host the opening of the 30th anniversary concert season of one of the country’s most distinguished ensembles - the Gaziza Zhubanova State Quartet.
The evening will open with String Quartet No. 14 in G major, KV 387 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. With its refined melodies and perfectly balanced structure, this masterpiece immerses the listener in a world of musical beauty. Its polyphonic richness and melodic intricacy once again affirm Mozart’s timeless genius.
The programme continues with one of the most celebrated works of the 20th century - the String Quartet by American composer Samuel Barber. Its profoundly moving Adagio for Strings, imbued with philosophical depth, compels reflection on time, eternity, and the fragility of human existence.
The culmination of the concert will be «Khaman Tolgau» by Kazakh composer K. Akhmedyarov. In the arrangement by A. Sagimbayev, this work acquires new colours in the interpretation of a string quartet, revealing the harmony of national intonation and classical style. The power of Kazakh spirituality and traditional music, joined with academic performance, promises to leave listeners with an indelible impression.
Performers:
• Aidar Toktaliuly - first violin
• Alexey Lebedev - second violin
• Bekzat Sailaubaiuly - viola
• Yernar Myntaev - cello
Artistic Director of the Quartet: Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Yernar Myntaev.
This evening will be a truly special occasion where the splendour of world classics meets the spirit of Kazakh motifs. The first concert of the anniversary season will gift its audience inspiration and a profound artistic experience.
