A distant era. In the heart of a land where pine and birch whisper in the wind, lives the proud Bashkir tribe - a people of steadfast customs and unyielding honour. In recent years, their fate has rested in the hands of Tankabike - a wise and resolute woman who took the reins of power after her husband’s death. Revered as the mother of the tribe, she is known for her wealth, intellect, and indomitable spirit.

Tankabike has three sons. The youngest, Ishmurza, is still a child. The middle one, Akyeget, is bold and passionate - a free-spirited young man whose heart beats with love. The eldest, Yulmurza, went off to defend his homeland and never returned.

The tribe receives the sorrowful news: Yulmurza has fallen in battle. According to ancient custom, his widow - the wise and beautiful Shafaq - must now become the wife of his brother. Thus, the elders decree that Akyeget must marry his late brother’s wife.

But fate weaves a cruel pattern. Akyeget has already pledged his heart to Zubarzhat, and their love is pure and true. Yet the council of elders decides that Zubarzhat should be betrothed to twelve-year-old Ishmurza. To defy tradition would mean to challenge the entire tribe.

Now all hope rests with Tankabike - the mother and the ruler. The destiny of her people, the future of the lovers, and the struggle between duty and compassion all converge in her heart.

What shall prevail: the ancient law of the ancestors, or the voice of the heart?
Is this the will of fate - or can even destiny be rewritten?
