audio performance “Tashkent Speaks”

audio performance “Tashkent Speaks”

Description

What is the audio performance “Tashkent Speaks”?

“Tashkent Speaks” is a unique project that combines elements of theater, quest and excursion. Participants receive headphones through which they hear the voice of the city, music and city sounds. For 100 minutes they follow a route about 3.5 km long, passing through central streets, parks and hidden courtyards. All this is accompanied by a sound design that makes the journey as lively and emotional as possible. The project is based on real memories of Tashkent residents, archival materials, and literary works. Among them is Dina Rubina's novel “On the Sunny Side of the Street”, in which the author conveys the special atmosphere of old Tashkent. The play begins in one of the city's iconic places and leads the listener along a carefully planned route, revealing secrets and little-known stories. Throughout, locals will hear voices familiar to them. Seydulla Moldakhanov, Boris Gafurov, Gleb Golender, Ali Khamraev and others took part in recording the audio for the performance.

Tashkent has been changing over the centuries. It is a city with a multi-layered history: here you can find traces of the ancient Middle Ages, echoes of the Soviet era and modern urban solutions. The audio play allows you to feel how these eras coexist in one space. It tells about the people who lived here, how they loved, suffered, rejoiced and dreamed. The stories are filled with emotions that make them close to each listener.
