«Pick Me» is a performance about female freedom and the power of dance to dismantle stereotypes.

The slang term «Pick Me Girl», commonly used in English-speaking culture to describe women seeking approval and attention, takes on an entirely new meaning in the interpretation by ARTiSHOK Theatre.

Through dance as a form of self-exploration and through diverse female stories, personalities, and professions, the actresses aim to show that the most important «choose me» is addressed to one person only: oneself.

Yulia Tatarintseva, director and choreographer of «Pick Me»: «Contemporary dance is about freedom and breaking rules. Through movement, we can question stereotypes about what is considered ‘beautiful.’ Don’t be afraid to be awkward, funny, curvy, mature, skinny, or tall. In dance, all stereotypes collapse instantly, starting with costume choices. Clothes don’t matter. Physical shape doesn’t matter. What matters is understanding that dance is a language of communication, especially when words are no longer enough.»
